Bringing nature to the classroom.
Introducing the NEW Mini – beast school programme.
Firstly we at Secret Valley would like to thank each and every one of you for the support and encouragment you have given us during the past couple of years. We have an established school tour programme which has been a fantastic success and over the years we have added to that programme. We are now in the position to offer you something new and really exciting.
Our policy to date has been to awaken a love of nature in our young people. We have concentrated on bringing nature to life for children. When schools come to our farm, they get a hands on, fun, educational experience. They come into contact with plant and animal life that is native to Ireland. We are now ready to take this a step further. As of now we are available to visit your school with an array of mini- beasts that will bring a true level of excitement that is really seen these days.
A lot of our mini beasts have come from African rainforests e.g stick insects, giant millipedes giant snails and beetles. We also have crabs and our newest member of the family- our lemur all the way from Madagascar. The aim of this programme is to first of all introduce these wonderful creatures to our young people, but also to educate them on how these animals are looked after and how important their existence is to the rainforest and how important rainforests are to our plannet. Our plan is to visit your schools and let the children get up close to these wonderful creatures. We will give talks and inform the children about them. We can arrange viewings any day in the week that suits you. A programme like this can be of huge benefit to all students because they are no longer looking at pictures in books. They can see, feel and touch the insects thus making the whole experience real. We at Secret Valley really feel that a visit to your school with this programme can only enhance your students learning.
Please remember we are open for school tour bookings and field trips throughout the year.

And finally we wish you all the best and hope to see you all at some point during the year
Below is a testimonial of a school we visited recently-
I am writing on behalf of the teachers and children in ST. John Of God School to let you know how much we enjoyed your visit to our school yesterday. It was a great success and the teachers and pupils are still talking about it. As you know we arranged for a seperate 40 minute session and information class for each class, from second to sixth class. And we feel that this worked very well. Each class got an oppurtunity to observe and handle the various mini-beasts, and to absorb the information and have their questions answered. The presentation was excellent and age appropriate so the pupils were engaged, interested and enthused.
Obviously Roxy the Lemur from Madagasca was the star of the show! The lizards and stick Insects were also a big hit. The presenters communicated well with the children, and were very pleasant and friendly to deal with. Overall it was a great learning experience for the pupils, and it complemented the Primary School curriculum very well. We would be happy to recommend your programme to other Primary Schools.
Yours Sincerely
Mrs A Giffney
School Principal.
