Donkey

Donkey

Donkeys are a smaller member of the equine family that were domesticated over 6000 years ago for meat, milk and later used for transporting goods. A male donkey is called a ‘jack’. A female donkey is called a ‘jenny’. Donkeys are generally stronger than horses of similar size.

Their large fluffy ears give them a great sense of hearing. The loud noise a donkey makes is called a ‘bray’ and can be heard by other donkeys miles away. A donkey can live for up to 50 years old.
